Collage Obsession: Candles

Tähän aikaan vuodesta kynttilöitä tulee poltettua joka päivä - eihän tätä pimeyttä muuten kestä. Tein kynttilöistä tällaisen aukeaman mustaan "Kaamospäiväkirjaani". Kynttilät on myös aiheena alkavan viikon "Collage Obsession" -haasteessani. Tee siis sinäkin jokin kynttilä-aiheinen juttu ja osallistu sillä leikkiin!

At this time of the year I light candles every evening - how else coud I survive this darkness. I made this collage of candles on a spread of my "Black Journal". Candles is also the theme of my "Collage Obsession" challenge for the coming week. So make a piece with candles in it, and join the game!

Collage Obsession: Black Cats / Mustat kissat

Collage Obsessionin teemana on tällä viikolla "Musta kissa" - yksi huonon onnen enteistä. Koska minulla on kotona kaksi mustaa kissaa, ei minun oikein kannata uskoa tuohon enteeseen... Tämä työni on yksi sivu mustasta päiväkirjasta, jota täyttelen mustien syksy- ja talvikuukausien aikana, yrittäen selvitä jotenkin seuraavaan kevääseen asti.

Collage Obsession's challenge theme this week is "Black Cats" - one of the bad omens and bringers of bad luck. Since I have two black cats at home, I really don't want to believe in this omen... This piece is one page from my black journal, in which I make pages during the black fall and winter months, trying to survive to the next spring.

Collage Obsession: Dreams

Collage Obsession's Tiffany challenged us to make art about our dreams and nightmares. As we are approaching the darkest season of the year, all I dream about - night and day - is Summer. I so much long to spend beautiful days by the lake, rowing and swimming, looking at the water changing colours, and admiring the wonderful sunsets. This is a page from my "Black Journal" which helps me live through the dark winter. The text here says "I'm dreaming".

Three Muses: Moon / Kuu

"Kolmen Muusan" haasteen aiheena on kuu, tuo aina yhtä kiehtova taivaankappale. Tein tämän kollaasin, jonka yhtenä elementtinä on kuu, käytettäväksi yhden uuden muistikirjani kansikuvana.

"Three Muses" challenged us to make art from the theme "Moon". I made this collage, where the Moon is one of the details, to be used as the front cover image of one of my new journals.

Collage Obsession: Number 13

Collage Obsession -haasteen tämän viikon aiheena on numero 13.

This week Collage Obsession challenges us to make art dealing with the number 13. It came to my mind that there are 13 cards in each suit of the card deck, and so I used this idea in my piece. I painted a spread of my altered book art journal with green paint and added the scanned and printed cards on the pages. The text in the frame says "Chapter thirteen", and that was on the page originally. The digits 1 and 3 are from Rian - thank you!

Three Muses: Doorways / Oviaukkoja

"Kolme Muusaa" antoivat tällä viikolla haasteen aiheeksi "Oviaukot".

"The Three Muses" challenged us to make art from the theme "Doorways". I made in my altered book art journal two spreads with a doorway between them - through it you can take a look at my garden. My materials for this collage included one sheet of brick wall designed crafting paper and the catalogue of a garden shop.

Take a Word: Male / Mies

"Take a Word" -haasteen aiheena on tällä viikolla "Mies".

My altered book journal "Garden" is almost finished, and now I wanted to decorate the inside of the back cover. I wanted to use this wonderful old image, which I have got as a freebie from some blog, but I'm really sorry that I have forgotten where I got it from - but thank you anyway! I started to imagine what kind of things this thoughtful looking gentleman would like to have in his garden, and so I collected on the opposite page some elements that I think look quite "male". This spread is my entry for "Take a Word's" this week's challenge "Male".
